Cor de la Bryére

16.1 Hand Holsteiner Stallion, Sire of Candidus

\

Born in 1968 by Rantzau XX. Selle Francais. This Anglo Norman stallion has Furioso XX in his dam's pedigree and was imported from France to Germany. Within just a few years of starting to stand at stud he became one of the most popular sires of his age group. He produced award-winning stallions and mares at the grading shows and ge also produced top-level competition horses. These include Contrast ridden by Herbert Blöcker in the three-day event world championships in 1982, the international show jumper Costa (ridden by Michael Rüping), and the great Grand Prix dressage horse Corlandus (ridden by Margitt Otto-Crepin for France) to name just three.

His record for producing stud book animals for breeding is impressive, as is his record for siring competition horses. In 1980 he sired the champion stallion at Neumünster's licensing with Caletto II, as well as the champion two-year-old filly, at Elmshorn. In 1981 he again sired the champion stallion with Cordino, plus the highest-priced auction horse, Catania, and the supreme champion mare at the Elite Mare Show. In 1989 Cor de la Bryére is found as the dam's sire of the reserve champion stallion at licensing with Locato (1987) and the same for the reserve champion two-year-old filly at the Elite Show at Elmshorn during the same year. Cor de la Bryére can give rather more knee action than most, but as this is combined with a good shoulder freedom his progeny can "snap up" their forelegs for jumping and extend them for dressage.
